Fresh details have emerged from an interim police investigation into the activities of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), a body the Presidency has described as non-existent, following a petition submitted by the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

According to the police report, Gbajabiamila petitioned the Inspector-General of Police on October 17, 2025, alleging that Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi had been impersonating a federal government official and presenting himself as the Director-General of the PFIPC using forged appointment documents. The petition was subsequently referred to the IGP Monitoring Unit for investigation.

The interim report, prepared by the then head of the IGP Monitoring Unit, CP Akin Fakorede, reportedly identified Adeyemi as the principal suspect. Investigators alleged that he forged official correspondence purportedly originating from the Office of the Chief of Staff in order to portray himself as the head of the alleged agency. The report also listed offences including forgery, impersonation and obtaining by false pretence, while naming two other suspected accomplices who were said to be at large.

Investigators further stated that the report was submitted to the Inspector-General of Police in November 2025, but no immediate prosecution followed. The delay has attracted public scrutiny, particularly after the alleged agency later appeared in discussions surrounding allocations in the 2026 federal budget, despite the Presidency maintaining that the PFIPC has no legal existence.

The controversy has prompted wider calls for accountability and a thorough investigation into how the alleged agency operated and gained apparent official recognition. President Bola Tinubu has since directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the matter and submit a comprehensive report.
