President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has launched five coordinated social and development programmes worth $3.05 billion, aimed at reducing poverty, strengthening human capital development, improving healthcare and education, and enhancing community resilience across Nigeria.

Speaking at the launch in Abuja, President Tinubu said the initiatives form part of a unified national strategy to ensure that the benefits of his administration’s economic reforms are felt by every Nigerian household. He noted that the programmes are designed to improve livelihoods, support vulnerable populations and accelerate inclusive economic growth.

The intervention package includes the HOPE programme, valued at $1.5 billion, which will focus on strengthening primary healthcare, foundational education, teacher support and governance reforms. Other initiatives include the NG-CARES programme, SOLID, and additional resilience-focused interventions aimed at supporting poor households, farmers, internally displaced persons and small businesses.

Tinubu stated that the programmes, supported by the World Bank and development partners, are expected to deepen investments in education, healthcare and social protection while helping states implement reforms that improve service delivery. He added that the initiatives align with the Federal Government’s long-term vision of building a $1 trillion economy by 2030 through economic diversification and human capital development.

The President also pointed to recent improvements in key economic indicators, including declining inflation, stronger foreign reserves and increased investor confidence, expressing optimism that the new interventions would further cushion the impact of economic reforms and improve the standard of living for millions of Nigerians.
