NCA Demands Fairness Over ₦8.05 Billion Church, Mosque Funds

By Peace Erewunmi

The Nigerian Christian Association (NCA) has called for fairness and transparency in the disbursement of the ₦8.05 billion allocated for the renovation and maintenance of churches and mosques across the country.

In a statement issued by its leadership, the association expressed concern over reports surrounding the distribution of the funds, stressing that any government intervention involving religious institutions should be carried out equitably and without discrimination.

The NCA urged the relevant authorities to make public the criteria used in allocating the funds, as well as the list of beneficiaries, to ensure accountability and maintain public confidence in the process. It maintained that transparency is essential in preventing allegations of bias or preferential treatment.

The association also emphasized the need for government policies to reflect the country’s religious diversity and constitutional principles, noting that public resources should be managed in a manner that promotes unity, fairness and national cohesion.

While reaffirming its commitment to peaceful coexistence and interfaith harmony, the NCA appealed to the Federal Government to engage relevant religious stakeholders and ensure that future interventions are implemented through a transparent and inclusive process that serves the interest of all Nigerians.
