Prof. Segun Aina Takes Over as JAMB Registrar on Friday

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will usher in a new phase of leadership on Friday, July 31, 2026, as its outgoing Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, formally hands over to his successor, Professor Segun Aina.
JAMB announced that the official handover ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. and will be streamed live on the Board’s official social media platforms, allowing members of the public to witness the transition.
Professor Oloyede is completing a decade-long tenure widely credited with transforming JAMB through reforms that improved transparency, strengthened the computer-based testing system, increased accountability and boosted the Board’s revenue remittances to the Federal Government.
Professor Segun Aina was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in May 2026 to succeed Oloyede. A professor of Computer Engineering and systems expert, Aina brings experience in digital infrastructure, examination systems and public-sector institutional reform to his new role.
The leadership transition marks the beginning of a new chapter for JAMB as the Board continues its mandate of conducting the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and overseeing admissions into Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
