A factional spokesman of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, has called on the party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to step aside from active political engagements and address questions surrounding his academic certificate, insisting that Nigerians deserve clarity on the matter.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Arabambi argued that public officials and those seeking the nation’s highest office should be open and transparent about their credentials. He maintained that the allegations surrounding Obi’s university certificate should be properly explained to preserve public confidence.

According to Arabambi, Nigerians are entitled to seek explanations whenever concerns are raised about the credentials of political leaders. He stressed that addressing the issues directly would help clear any doubts and strengthen public trust in the country’s democratic process.

The remarks follow Arabambi’s earlier claims that there were inconsistencies involving the name printed on Obi’s university certificate and the date it was signed. He has repeatedly urged the former Anambra State governor to provide further clarification on the documents.

As of the time of filing this report, Peter Obi had not publicly responded to Arabambi’s latest comments. Likewise, no official statement had been issued by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, regarding the fresh allegations.
