Four Mobile Police officers and seven civilians have been killed after suspected armed attackers invaded Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The attack reportedly occurred on Thursday evening, September 10, with the assailants invading the community and opening fire on residents and security personnel.

The Benue State Police Command confirmed the deaths of four police officers and seven civilians, bringing the reported death toll to 11.

According to police reports, officers from the Police Mobile Force and tactical teams were deployed to the area following information about the attack. The security personnel engaged the attackers in an attempt to repel the assault.

Several residents were also reportedly caught in the attack as the assailants moved through the community.

The latest incident adds to the continuing security challenges facing communities in Benue State, where attacks by armed groups have repeatedly resulted in civilian and security-force casualties.

Security agencies are expected to intensify efforts to identify those responsible for the attack and prevent further violence in the affected communities.
