By Erewunmi Peace

A 50-year-old woman from Indiana, United States, has been arrested for allegedly plotting to assassinate President Donald Trump. The suspect, identified as Nathalie Rose Jones, was taken into custody after federal investigators uncovered a series of violent threats she posted on social media.

According to reports from the U.S. Secret Service and confirmed by reputable news sources, Jones posted alarming messages on Facebook and Instagram, threatening to “sacrificially kill” the President. Her statements included graphic descriptions of violent acts, claiming she wanted to avenge the deaths caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which she blamed on Trump.

Jones traveled to Washington, D.C., where she was arrested on August 16, 2025. During interrogation, she admitted that if given the opportunity, she would harm the President. However, she later retracted, saying she had no current intention to carry out the attack.

The suspect faces federal charges, including:

Making threats against the President of the United States.

Transmitting threatening communications across state lines.

Each charge carries a possible sentence of up to five years in prison.

The New York Post and Washington Post both confirmed that Jones’ social media posts were explicit and detailed, sparking immediate concern from law enforcement. The Times of India also reported that she referred to Trump as a “terrorist” in one of her threats.

Authorities have emphasized that such threats are taken seriously, regardless of whether the suspect intended to act on them.
