APC Chieftain Declares Tinubu Irreplaceable, Says 2027 Will Be Nigerians’ Decision

A leading figure of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Farouk Aliyu, has declared President Bola Ahmed Tinubu “irreplaceable” as the ruling party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview with ARISE News, Aliyu emphasized that while Tinubu currently stands unchallenged within the APC, the final decision rests with the Nigerian people.
“As it stands today, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is irreplaceable in APC. But in the end, Nigerians will decide who governs them in 2027,” Aliyu stated.
APC Confident in Tinubu’s Leadership
The APC chieftain dismissed speculations about internal divisions or possible replacement of Tinubu as the party’s candidate. He said the party remains united and committed to supporting the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which, according to him, is beginning to yield results.
Aliyu also addressed concerns about opposition parties, maintaining that no political figure — including former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar — poses a significant threat to Tinubu’s chances in 2027.
“We respect other leaders, but the reality is that APC under Tinubu remains strong. The North and other regions will support him. Not every vote, but the majority,” he added.
Background
President Tinubu, who assumed office on May 29, 2023, has faced challenges including inflation, fuel subsidy removal, and currency reforms. Despite criticisms, the APC has reaffirmed him as its sole candidate for 2027, signaling a clear strategy for continuity.
Earlier this year, the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) officially endorsed Tinubu for a second term, saying his administration needs more time to consolidate its policies and deliver on promises.
What This Means for 2027
Political analysts say the APC’s early endorsement of Tinubu sets the stage for a heated contest in 2027, with opposition parties expected to form alliances to challenge the ruling party. While the APC expresses confidence, Aliyu’s statement underscores the fact that the ultimate decision lies with the electorate.
