Jandor Declares Governorship Ambition on APC Platform, Predicts Easy 2027 Victory for Tinubu

By Erewunmi Peace

Former Lagos governorship candidate, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 Lagos governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Jandor, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer in the 2023 election, made the announcement after formally rejoining the APC earlier this week. Speaking to journalists in Lagos, he expressed confidence in both his political prospects and the continued dominance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in national politics.

According to him, the 2027 presidential election “will be an easy win” for Tinubu, citing what he described as the president’s strong political structure and enduring influence across the country.

“I have decided to align with the APC because I believe in continuity and progress. President Tinubu’s leadership has redefined Nigeria’s political direction, and Lagos remains the model for good governance,” Jandor said.

He further stated that his decision to return to the ruling party was driven by a desire to contribute to Lagos State’s growth from within the system, rather than as an opposition figure.

Political observers note that Jandor’s defection marks a significant shift in Lagos politics, given his prominence as a major challenger to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in 2023. His move to the APC has sparked fresh discussions about realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

While supporters within the ruling party have welcomed his return, critics argue that his prediction of an “easy win” for President Tinubu remains speculative, given Nigeria’s dynamic political climate.

As 2027 approaches, analysts say Jandor’s return to the APC could reshape intra-party contestations, especially in Lagos, where multiple aspirants are expected to vie for the governorship ticket.
