Osun 2026: Omisore Declares Governorship Bid

By Erewunmi Peace

Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has officially declared his intention to contest the Osun State governorship election scheduled for 2026.

Omisore, who made the announcement via his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, October 4, 2025, revealed that his campaign theme will be “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams.”

He is expected to formally launch his campaign at the APC Secretariat in Osogbo on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, where he will unveil his agenda for economic growth, infrastructural renewal, and inclusive governance in Osun State.

In his declaration message, Omisore said his decision to run stems from his commitment to rebuilding Osun and restoring the people’s trust in government.

“Osun deserves leadership that will bridge the gap between our past promises and our people’s present realities,” he said.

Political observers see Omisore’s return to the governorship race as a major development within the Osun APC, given his long-standing influence in state politics.

Omisore, a former deputy governor and two-term senator, has previously contested for the state’s top seat under different political platforms. His latest move is expected to reshape the political dynamics ahead of the 2026 elections.

Party members and supporters have since begun mobilizing across local government areas in anticipation of his official campaign activities.
