Bolanle Sarumi-Aliyu Declares Intention to Become Next Governor of Oyo State

Former Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs to the Oyo State Government, Bolanle Sarumi-Aliyu, has boldly declared her ambition to become the next governor of Oyo State.
Sarumi-Aliyu, popularly known as BASA, made the statement while speaking to journalists earlier this week. She expressed strong confidence in her political journey, stating that she is as certain of her forthcoming victory as she was during her previous political successes.
“I will be the next Governor of Oyo State. I’m so sure—the same way I was sure then,” she said.
Sarumi-Aliyu, a prominent advocate for youth and women empowerment, recently defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as part of her renewed political plans ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Her declaration has sparked reactions across political circles in Oyo State, with supporters praising her courage and critics questioning the strength of her new political platform.
Bolanle Sarumi-Aliyu previously served under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde and has been active in grassroots mobilization and diaspora engagement initiatives. She is expected to officially launch her campaign structure in the coming months.
While her announcement has drawn significant attention online—especially on social media—the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not yet released official timelines for the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.
