U.S Congress members say Military Action Threat Against Nigeria by Trump is Reckless, Irresponsible

Several United States lawmakers have criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump over his recent comments threatening possible military action in Nigeria over alleged attacks on Christians.
Trump, in remarks widely circulated in U.S. and global media, claimed that the Nigerian government must take immediate action to stop religious violence or the U.S. would “go in guns-a-blazing.” His statement has drawn strong backlash from political figures and foreign policy experts in Washington.
Lawmakers described Trump’s words as dangerous, irresponsible and reckless, warning that unilateral threats could worsen bilateral relations and destabilize regional peace efforts in West Africa.
Nigeria’s government swiftly rejected the comments, insisting that the country would not allow any form of foreign military intervention and stressing that insecurity affects both Christians and Muslims.
Diplomatic analysts note that while the U.S. has previously raised concerns about religious freedom in Nigeria, threats of direct military involvement are rare and could inflame tensions between the two nations if not handled carefully.
